Researcher and Writer

Brad Cecil & Associates is a leading multi-channel marketing and a full-service strategic fundraising agency exclusively serving non-profits.

Position Summary:

We are currently seeking an individual who will support the Capital Campaign Department with the execution of prospective donor research, grant writing and is responsible for supporting consulting staff who are managing major client fundraising programs. This newly defined role is a full-time salaried position with benefits.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

Prospect Research

  • Conducts biographical and philanthropic engagement research on individuals, corporations, foundations and organizations in an ongoing effort to inform consultant recommendations.
  • Plays a crucial role in project management by working proactively to develop a pipeline of research priorities, qualifying new prospective donors and providing timely, actionable, value-added intelligence to consultants regarding prospective donors’ interests.
  • Interpret and evaluate research results and communicate analysis in an appropriate format to consulting teams.
  • Proactively identify new prospective donors for projects through external sources, including news alerts, screening information, regional publications, industry news, etc.
  • Follow and contribute to improvements to the internal best practices of donor segmentation and prospective donor identification from both client data and external research sources.

Grant Writing

  • Oversee grant writing for all projects, including letters of inquiry and grant proposals.
  • In close coordination with consulting teams, draft and edit compelling requests tailored to funders’ priorities and guidelines.
  • Maintain supporting documents required for proposal submissions.
  • Collaborate with consulting team in developing a case for support for each project and maintaining it with the most current information throughout the duration of the project.
  • Adapt writing style to reflect each client’s voice, mission and goals.

Department Support

  • Provides overall support for Capital Campaign Department in daily oversight of research queues and grant pipeline for multiple campaigns simultaneously to ensure goals and deadlines are met.
  • Research, analyze and provide information on research queue established by consulting teams.
  • Coordinates workflow across multiple campaigns and teams under tight deadlines.
  • Communicates action items, deliverables and deadlines through weekly reports.
  • Must be a self-starter and have exceptional follow-through.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to team effort.
  • Interest in fundraising and strong desire to work with nonprofits.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Non-profit, Social Work, Marketing, Communication, Public Relations or related field required.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years related work experience with non-profit organizations, experience in prospect research and grant writing preferred.
  • Knowledge of fundraising campaigns or major donor experience a plus.
  • Agency experience a plus but not required.

Skills:

  • Position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and extreme attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS suite and all applicable platforms.
  • Knowledge of research and analytics tools, such as iWave, Foundation Directory, Power BI, a plus.

Location:

  • This is a hybrid work schedule.
  • Must be able to work at BCA location as directed.
  • Must be able to work effectively and seamlessly form a remote location.
